‘The Goonies’ is an American comedy adventure fiction film that was released in 1985. The movie is based on a story written by Steven Spielberg and stars actors such as Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Ke Huy Quan, Jeff Cohen, and Corey Feldman. The film also has actors such as Kerri Green, Anne Ramsey, Robert Davi, Keith Walker, Martha Plimpton, and many others in supporting roles. The film centers on a group of boys called ‘Goonies’ who want to save their homes from going into foreclosure. They find a treasure map and go on an adventure to try and locate the treasure to attempt to save their homes.
The movie was a commercial success and grossed $125 million worldwide from the box office collection. The movie was made on a budget of $19 million. It was produced by Amblin Entertainment along with Warner Bros. The movie is directed by Richard Donner with a screenplay by Chris Columbus.

Principal Shoot Of ‘The Goonies’
The movie’s setting is the city of Astoria, Oregon. The principal photography of the entire film took approximately five months. The most famous place from the movie is undoubtedly the Goonies Home, also known as Mikey’s home from the movie. It is located on 38th street in Astoria and a Goonies fan bought the house and has turned it into a relic and keeps it open as a tourist attraction.
Another really popular Goonies-related location in Astoria is the County Jail. It is the place where Jake Fratelli was imprisoned and later his family helped him get out of. Certain pieces used in the scenes are still kept in the Jail and it has now been turned into Oregon Film Museum. It has many film props and relics including the Jeep that the Fratelli’s used.

Additional Filming Locations
Other prominent places include Mikey’s friends’ houses. Mouth’s house can be seen near the County Jail on 32 Skyline Avenue. Similarly, Data’s house is in the same lane as Mikey’s house. One can also visit the Flavel House Museum where Mikey’s father worked as a Museum curator. The boys can also be seen cycle past the museum in the movie. These are all famous spots to see in Astoria.
Other sites where filming for the movie took place are Cannon Beach, John Warren Field, Ecola State Park, and Goat Rock Beach. The scene where Fratelli’s car chase ends after a long time is filmed at Cannon Beach. Whereas, the place which housed Fratelli’s hideout is filmed in the Ecola State Park. The site is also where the Goonies start their treasure hunt and the entire set was made from scratch for the movie. The set was later destroyed. The scene where Andy’s cheer practice happens is filmed at a place called John Warren Field. Last but not the least, the finale of the movie was shot in California at Goat Rock Beach where One-Eyed Willie’s ship sails into the horizon.
