Auli’i Cravalho Is Not Returning As Moana
The live-action remake of Moana has increased excitement among the audience. But the decision of Auli’i Cravalho not to play the lead role has also disappointed them. The actress revealed the reasons behind the same and said in a video posted on Instagram that she was cast as Moana at 14, and it wonderfully changed her life and started her career. She added that she will not reprise her role and believes that it is important that the casting should be accurate and represent the characters and stories the way they should be done.
Cravalho continued and said, “So, as an executive producer on the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength. I’m truly honored to pass this baton to the next young woman of Pacific Island descent, to honor our incredible Pacific people’s cultures and communities that help inspire her story. And I look forward to all the beautiful Pacific representations to come. Mahalo.”
