After 36 years, Tim Burton’s 1998 horror comedy ‘Beetlejuice’ got a sequel, and it proved to be such a big hit that fans are already asking for the third part of the movie — which will likely be named ‘Beetlejuice- Beetlejuice- Beetlejuice’.
While fans are still hopeful, there have been no official updates about the third movie as of now. Meanwhile, filmmaker Tim Burton has answered some questions about a potential third part. Here’s what he said.
Tim Burton Gives Update On The Third Part Of ‘Beetlejuice’
Producer Tommy Harper has previously told Total Film magazine that he’s ready to please those wanting more of ‘Beetlejuice‘. “We haven’t talked about where it could go from here, we just talked about making one really good movie. Make it the best you can, and then anything could happen,” he said.
However, Burton is seemingly a little bit less serious about the third part of the movie. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “Well, if [the same] time frame goes on, I’ll be about 100. So maybe. I doubt it.”

He continued, “But no, I mean, like I said, for me, I wasn’t really personally interested. If you said it to me, I would run the other direction. This is one where it was something that caught my thing. Now, would something else hit? I don’t know. Not right now, because I’m still finishing this one, basically.” It seems that if ‘Beetlejuice 3’ happens, it would happen without Tim Burton.
Jenna Ortega Also Thinks there Could Be A Third Movie
During a recent interview with ‘Fandango‘, actress Jenna Ortega was asked a similar question about the third part of the film. “I feel like the world might explode if a third movie gets made,” she said, adding, “Who knows? Maybe in another… how many years. It would be fun.”
“But I will say, one of the special things about this movie is that it’s so original and so absurd, and feels like such a fever dream, that I think there’s so much originality that could still be found in that world. It’s a very flexible environment,” the actress added.

Since the second film of the series has done great financially, there are high chances for a third film. But Burton is getting no younger, hence the third part would be taken over by some other director. But both movies are creative projects of Burton and handing them over to someone else might tamper with his work, and potentially disappoint fans.
What’s clear is Tim Burton isn’t trying for another movie as no hanging threads were left in the second part of the film. If a third part happens, it is likely to be an entirely different type of storyline.
