Turn up the Funk, baby, it is the 50th year of the legendary Chaka Khan in the music industry! She is the master of intermingling genres creating some of the best vocal albums that inspired generations of musicians and music. The artist has several RIAA-certified platinum and gold albums under her belt. The 10-time Grammy winner has recently taken offense at the recent list released by Rolling Stone.
The premiere music magazine has been under fire for several years for its listicles. Those have caused controversies in the past and nothing has changed! Recently, they released a list of the greatest singers of all time honoring the supremely talented vocalists in music. The list includes artists like Mariah Carey, Adele, Mick Jagger, Diana Ross, and others. However, the positioning of the artists in the list has irked Khan, and she has reprimanded the magazine and shaded Adele.

Chaka Khan Calls Quit As Adele Ranks Higher Than Her
Rolling Stone has triggered the nerves of music heads and artists due to their controversial lists ranking the talents. This time it is their ‘Greatest Singers Of All Time’ where they have ranked the best vocalists in the business. The magazine listed the criteria for making it to the list writing that the artists get featured on the lists due to the “originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy.”
However, during ‘The Originals’ podcast the ‘Destiny’ artist has called the magazine criticizing their hearing abilities. The host made her aware of a list ranking the singers which included her as well. She said, “What is that? “These are somebody’s opinions, correct? Then that’s all I have to say. I feel honored; however, it’s not going to take me over any moon. These people don’t quantify or validate me in any way.”
In the list, Chaka is in the 29th position and her frenemy Mary J. Blige at the 25th position. However, the artists like Adele and Mariah Carey were listed above them at the 22nd and 5th positions, respectively. This fumed Chaka Khan. After hearing Mariah’s ranking, she said, “That must be payola.”
When she got to know that Adele was positioned higher than her, she sarcastically said, “Okay, I quit”. Blige’s ranking made her berserk and she commented, “They are blind as a motherf****** bat! They need hearing aids. These must be the children of Helen Keller!”

Céline Dion Fans Protested Against The Magazine For Not Including Her In The List
Not only artists, but their fans have also called out the unfair rankings and list of Rolling Stone. After the list was released, the magazine did not include a veteran like Céline Dion. This did not sit well with The Redheads, the fans of the singer from Canada.
They traveled to New York to stage a protest in front of Rolling Stone’s office. Line Basbous, the group’s founder, talked to Variety during the demonstration.
Basbous said, “The list is completely illegitimate. We wanted to support her and make sure that Rolling Stone hears the voice of the fans. The list is ridiculous. No Madonna, no Celine. They’re clearly focused on American singers and we don’t understand.”
