Dancers Suing Lizzo React To Her Plan Of Countersuing Them

Then name Lizzo has often been synonymous with body positivity being an advocate for mental health and supporting women. The singer, who gained fame after her songs blew up on Tiktok has always expressed herself boldly, and fearlessly.

Her image was contradicted recently when her dancers accused the artist of being racist and harassing them sexually and religiously. Lizzo Is Accused Of Sexual Harassment

A lawsuit was brought by three of Lizzo’s former dancers against the musician, 35. Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez described the toxic work environment they experienced while on tour in the lawsuit. According to NBC News, this included forced participation in a sex performance, verbal disputes, and weight shaming. Additionally, they also called out Shirlene Quigley, the leader of Lizzo’s dance team. They said she frequently disclosed intimate information about her personal relationships and religious convictions during practice. Quigley also referred to one of the victims as a “non-believer.” She also openly discussed another’s virginity in interviews and on social media.

The dancer’s lawyer made a statement and said, “More potential plaintiffs sharing similar stories of abuse and harassment are coming forward on a regular basis. We’ve heard from at least 10 former Lizzo employees since we filed the lawsuit and are reviewing their claims. Some of them will most certainly be actionable. Lizzo’s job now is to try to do everything she can to limit the damage to her brand and save her career. Our job is to vigorously litigate this case on behalf of the plaintiffs based on the facts, and we’re confident the truth will prevail over the spin.”

Now Lizzo has decided to countersue the dancers for the false claims, and they are not happy.

How Did Lizzo’s Dancers React To Her Countersuit Decision?

Lizzo made a statement on Instagram where she talked about the allegations, labeling them false.

After the dancers filed their own allegations of harassment, Lizzo’s lawyer said she wanted to sue the dancers as well. In a statement to People on Wednesday, Marty Singer claimed that the lawsuit is a sham. “Lizzo intends to sue for malicious prosecution after she prevails and these specious claims are dismissed.”.

The dancers’ attorneys then responded to this news. He said that there was no legal ground to countersue them in the case. He talked about Lizzo’s decision and said that it “delivers a chilling effect to all harassment victims in the workplace.”

“Her team is merely trying to suppress the truth and hide her hypocrisy of publicizing her brand as one of empowerment and body positivity while privately depriving women of their empowerment,” he said. “Lizzo certainly isn’t empowering women by way of her threats, rather she is disenfranchising them.”
