When girls vow to support each other they do it for life and we have proof. Kelly Rowland dazzled on the ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ premiere red carpet, not just in style but also with heartfelt cheers for Jay-Z‘s powerful words at the Grammys.
The former Destiny’s Child member shared her pride for Jay-Z, addressing the Recording Academy’s notorious snubs of Beyoncé. Rowland and Beyonce have often been mistaken for sisters and that tells one a lot about their friendship. The girls first met at the age of nine at an audition and then made history with their band.

Kelly Rowland was spotted gracing the red carpet at the ‘Bob Marley: One Love‘ at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. The singer there shared her thoughts on Jay-Z’s headline-making move at the Grammys in a conversation with ET. She applauded the rapper for making artists “feel very seen and very heard” with his speech, noting the absurdity of Beyoncé never clinching Album of the Year.
Kelly praised Jay saying “Shawn Carter is one of the greatest men I know and his words ring so loud to me..I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
Beaming with pride the singer deemed Beyoncé an “icon” who deserves celebration for her unparalleled contributions to the music industry. The former bandmate said, “She is innovative, her thoughts are big and bright and she just jumps for them and does it.” Rowland continued, “I think that her albums are a reflection of that, and it should be really celebrated in that way.”

Now to give the context, Jay-Z, the icon himself, stole the Grammy stage this Sunday night. And it wasn’t just with his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy by his side but with a resounding callout to the Recording Academy. He reminded the academy of the most Grammy-decorated artist ever, his wife Beyoncé, who astonishingly hasn’t won Album of the Year despite 32 Grammys.
Without mentioning the name but making it as obvious as the gold on the gramophones the winner of Dr Dre Global Impact Award gave an interesting speech.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more GRAMMYs than anyone and never won Album of the Year,” proclaimed Jay-Z. Questioning the Academy’s metrics he continued, “So, even by your own metrics that doesn’t work. Think about that, the most GRAMMYs, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”
