And well, sometimes hopeful turns into hopeless, so here we go, ‘Piece by Piece,’” the singer said. And Clarkson sang the song with some amended lyrics.
This is how the original song went: “But piece by piece, he collected me up / Off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah / Piece by piece, he filled the holes that you burned in me / At 6 years old and you know,” After the divorce, the words in the lyrics were changed, like from ‘he’ to ‘I’. Similar changes were made in other instances too. The lyrics became more self-aware and empowering.
