As an unprecedented storm continues to wreak havoc across Tennessee, musician Taylor Swift has donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Swift’s philanthropic move comes as the storms, with about 13 tornadoes so far, have killed six people including two children. Taking to Instagram, Swift said she has a special connection with Nashville, and the natural calamity has left her devastated.

“Nashville is my home, and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me,” she wrote in the post. The TIME person of the year also asked her fans to contribute to the cause. She has put up a link to the donation site on her social media handles.
The CEO of the community foundation, Hal Cato confirmed that Swift has made such a generous donation to help in the rescue operations. He said that the money received would be used to help the residents in the area who have been impacted by the storms.
Hal said the aid Taylor Swift has provided includes financial support, food provisions, temporary housing, debris clean-up, and support for animal sheltering.
Swift has demonstrated her philanthropic spirit before. In March 2020, she donated the same amount to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund after deadly tornadoes devastated her home region.

Eras Tour Star Is Popular For Her Philanthropy
During her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift made several financial contributions. One of these donations was to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan during a stop in Detroit’s Ford Field in June. The food bank authorities had thanked Swift at the time.
“These words ring true today with Taylor’s surprise donation to Gleaners during her #TSTheErasTour stop in #Detroit,” the food bank said in a social media post. “Thank you for making an impact & empowering kids and families with nutritious food!”
“Taylor Swift’s support of food banks across the country comes at such a critical time for so many emergency food providers — when resources are down, and need is up,” Kristin Sokul, a representative for Gleaners, told the Detroit Free Press at the time.
“The space in her heart will empower households across Southeast Michigan to live happier, healthier lives and elevate the important issue of food security so others who have the ability to help can be inspired by her example. The entire Gleaners team is so grateful for this incredible gift,” Sokul added.
The storms in Tennessee have left the region with massive losses. CNN reported that over 50 people were injured, with buildings structurally damaged, and frequent power outages kicking life out of normality there.
