Ice Spice is finally speaking up about her infamous controversy with ‘1975‘ frontman Matty Healy that caused quite an outburst among fans due to Healey entertaining racially charged comments against the rapper.
The controversy led to many believing that Taylor Swift‘s recent collaboration with the rapper on her hit song ‘Karma‘ was damage control for her then boyfriend Healy. Here’s what Ice Spice has to say about the alleged feud.

What Was The Controversy Surrounding Ice Spice And Matty Healy?
In early 2023, Matty Healy had made an appearance on ‘The Adam Friedland Show‘ and had told hosts Nick Mullen and Friedland that he had DM’d Ice Spice and she had not replied. Ice Spice, whose mother is of Dominican heritage and her father is Black, was called the “Inuit Spice Girl” by the hosts, who used Hawaiian and Chinese accents to speak about her. Though Healey did not comment, he was laughing at the jokes, sparking outrage among fans.
He later apologised during a concert and said, “Sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued, it’s ’cause I don’t want Ice Spice to think that I’m a dick. I love you Ice Spice…. It’s OK for me to be like, a trickster or whatever, but I don’t want to be perceived as mean-hearted.”
He added, “We all get it wrong, and I just have to do it in public and then apologize to Ice Spice and my life’s just a bit weird. But I am genuinely sorry if I upset her ’cause I f—ing love her.”

Ice Spice Clears The Air Around Matty Healy Controversy
The outrage changed paths after Taylor Swift announced her collaboration with Ice shortly after the controversy, as many called out Swift for trying to “fix” things between them both by working with the rapper. While fans continue to call Swift out for dating Healy, Ice Spice cleared the air for fans and has added that Matty apologized to her multiple times.
“I actually was late as f— to that,” she said during her recent interview with Rolling Stone. “I didn’t know about it until like a month after or something like that,” she added.
“He apologized multiple times, but I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was to other people,” she added. “I feel like people just wanted something to be mad about, I guess. I wasn’t angry or sad or anything. I was just kind of confused. I never really cared about that,” the rapper said, reassuring that she’s “still a huge fan” of Healy and his band, ‘The 1975‘.
