Foo Fighters finally found a replacement for their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins. Over the past few months, many names were recommended to be the band’s new drummer including Rufus Taylor from The Darkness. On May 21, Foo Fighters announced their new drummer during a live stream and his name is Josh Freese.
On May 24, the band will begin their tour in New Hampshire and will continue till November 26 at the Grand Prix race-day concert in Abu Dhabi. Also in April, the band announced their 11th album ‘But Here We Are‘, which will release on June 2.

All About New Foo Fighters Drummer Josh Freese
Recently, Foo Fighters announced their new drummer after the demise of their original drummer Taylor Hawkins. He worked with punk rock bands such as Blink-182, Paramore, The Offspring, and The Vandals. Josh also worked with other bands like Nine Inch Nails, The Replacements, and Filter. One of the longer stints for Freese has been with the American alternative rock band A Perfect Circle.
Giuseppe Mercadante, a fellow band member, broke the news on Twitter welcoming their new band member. It’s unclear if Freese will become a permanent member of Foo Fighters or if is he simply filling in as the band embarks on their tour. Josh Freese would become the band’s third drummer succeeding Hawkins and William Goldsmith, who played The Colour and the Shape in 1997’s.

How Did Taylor Hawkins Die?
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died on March 27, 2022, in Colombia. He was found dead in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota. According to the reports cited by the Colombian authorities, multiple drugs including heroin, marijuana, opioids, and antidepressants were discovered. The Colombian authorities also discovered an empty beer can, a Coca-Cola bottle, and an opened bottle of vodka.
Just before Taylor Hawkins died, the guitarist of the Foo Fighters Dave Grohl told the Post how important being in a band was. Hawkins was on tour with the band when he was found dead in the hotel room. The Foo Fighters issued a statement stating, “Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were. And without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward”.
