Who Is Rocco Siffredi, The Man Who Inspired Netflix’s New Drama ‘Supersex’?

Netflix has come up with many new documentaries and movies that are inspired by real-life people. This includes an array ranging from glamorous celebrities to psychopathic serial killers. Here is another such series that is being built taking inspiration from Rocco Siffredi. And the upcoming drama is named ‘Supersex‘.

‘Supersex’ would be exploring the life of the pornography actor, Rocco Siffredi. His life had been subject to documentaries earlier like ‘Rocco‘ directed by the French duo Thierry Demaiziere and Alban Teurlai which was screened at the 2016 Venice Film Festival. Now here’s another one by Netflix. So who is this porn star, Rocco Siffredi? And what is the film all about?

The Italian pornographic actor, director, and producer, Rocco Siffredi was born on May 4, 1964, in Ortona, Italy. He took his stage name Siffredi from the French gangster movie, ‘Borsalino‘ (1970), in which Alian Delon played the role of Roch Siffredi. Siffredi, also known as “Italian Stallion” has starred in more than 1300 pornographic movies. Though he left the industry briefly, he returned back after two years.

Rocco started working as a porn star in the late 1980s. He gained a cult following due to his psychological intensity and athleticism. He acted in a series of adult movies which were called the ‘Buttman‘ series, thus his name. Though he retired in 2004 for the sake of his children, he had to return back to the industry. But finally, he quit the industry in 2015. Siffredi is married to a Hungarian model, Rosa Caracciolo and they have two sons. The actor talked about his struggles with sex addiction later on in an Italian reality show.

All About ‘Supersex‘

The Netflix series will explore Rocco Siffredi’s life from his childhood, and family to his career, along with his “relationship with love”. The series will also show the struggles the global star had to undergo due to sex addiction. The upcoming Italian series is created and written by Francesca Manieri and directed by Matteo Rovere, Francesco Carrazzini, and Francesca Mazzoleni.

“Supersex is the story of a man who takes seven episodes and 350 minutes to say ‘I love you,’ to accept that the demon in his body is compatible with love. To do this, he must expose the only part of him that we have never seen: his soul,” Manieri explained the gest of the upcoming drama series. In the Netflix drama series, ‘Suburra‘ lead, Alessandro Borghi will play the titular role. He would be casting along with Jasmine Trinca, Andriano Giannini, and Saul Nanni who would play young Rocco. The seven-episode series has begun shooting in Italy and will debut worldwide in 2023.
