Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck had just finished shooting for ‘Deep Water’ in March 2020 when the Covid Pandemic came unannounced. The co-stars were quarantined together and wanted to spend their time together like any normal couple. They took their dogs out on walks, received coffee deliveries, and played with Ben’s three kids in the yard. However, all this time, the media and the paparazzi had eyes on them throughout.
The Spanish-Cuban actress described the experience of the constant surveillance by the media as ‘horrible.’ Their relationship was closely followed, which made Ana feel trapped. Even in the 24/7 pandemic, the 34-year-old actress couldn’t get a proper break.

“This Is Not The Place For Me To Be,” Said Ana De Armas
In a recent interview with Elle, Armas shared her dismay and horror at her privacy being repeatedly compromised and not respected. The actress had to navigate first-hand how suffocating public attention can be.
She said, “Going through it confirmed my thoughts about, ‘This is not the place for me to be.’ It became a little bit too much. There’s no escape. There’s no way out.” She said L.A. always gave her “the feeling of something that you don’t have, something missing. It’s a city that keeps you anxious.” Armas, undoubtedly, made her exit from L.A.
Different Priorities Led To The Breakup Of ‘Deep Water’ Stars
In January 2021, the ‘Deep water’ co-stars parted their ways after a year of dating. One of the factors that led to the breakup was that both the actors weren’t in the same place, metaphorically. Armas didn’t want to be Los Angeles based and would not commit to having more kids. Whereas Ben, who shares three kids with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, would have to stay in Los Angeles. However, an insider reported that they still have a lot of love between them, and the breakup was mutual, done on a friendly note.
Deep Water was released in March 2022, a year after they had broken up. Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck have played the role of husband and wife. Currently, Ben is back together with Jennifer Lopez. The couple got engaged the second time in April. Meanwhile, the ‘Knives Out’ actress is dating Paul Boukadakis, the Tinder Executive.
