‘Evil Dead’ is one of those film franchises that somewhere falls under the category of ‘The Exorcist’ films. Just like ‘The Exorcist’, ‘Evil Dead’ features more gore and violence instead of jump scares and this is what helped the film to earn a lot at the box office.
Following the release of the reboot in 2013, there were speculations about a sequel for a long time and director Fede Alvarez also confirmed the same at the time. Alvarez got busy with other projects because of which the sequel took so long to make but it is finally ready to hit the big screen this year. ‘Evil Dead Rise’: Plot Details
‘Evil Dead Rise’ is still a month away from being released in theatres. So for now we cannot predict anything on what we would exactly get to see in terms of storyline. But according to the information that is available in online mediums, the new film will feature the Necronomicon and the Deadites just like ‘Ash vs the Evil Dead.’
The main premise will focus on Beth who visits her sister and single mother Ellie along with the latter’s three kids. The group finds the Necronomicon which leads to the rise of the Deadites that terrorizes the entire family along with those who are residing in the same apartment.
Considering the history of the franchise with blood and gore, ‘Evil Dead Rise’ is expected to follow the same. Meanwhile, it has been already rated R by the MPAA.

‘Evil Dead Rise’: Cast And Release Date
‘Evil Dead Rise’ is scheduled to be released on the big screen on April 21, 2023. The project was announced by the original film’s director Sam Raimi in October 2019 and Lee Cronin was hired as the director in June 2020. The film was originally scheduled to be released through HBO Max.
Principal photography for the film started in June 2021 and cinematographer Dave Garbett, who worked on ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ was also brought in. Filming was half completed by June 2021 and concluded in October of the same year. Cronin later disclosed that around 6,500 liters of fake blood were used for the film. The lead roles are being portrayed by Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, Nell Fisher, Mia Challis, Tai Wano, Jayden Daniels and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy.
