HBO’s first trailer for its ‘Harry Potter‘ TV series is finally here, and it brings Harry back to Hogwarts but not in the way long-time fans might expect. The footage clearly shows his arrival at the school, yet the overall presentation suggests this is a different version of Hogwarts than many remember.
Only a day earlier, HBO shared a still of Harry walking toward the Quidditch pitch with his broom. That image hinted at something familiar, but the full trailer now shows that this Hogwarts may not feel the same.
First-Look Of ‘Harry Potter’ Trailer Shows Harry’s Arrival At Hogwarts

The trailer shows Harry, played by Dominic McLaughlin, leaving his life with his Muggle guardians and entering Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The story moves step by step into the magical world, just like we saw for little Daniel Radcliffe. But as the scenes continue, the trailer introduces parts of Hogwarts and its people, and it’s not exactly what we remember.

These moments build his first year and show us what his new life will look like. One key scene shows Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. He tells Harry, “Mr. Potter, I think we can expect great things from you… Let’s see who you are.”

HBO has confirmed that the first season will be called ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone‘. The show will follow the first book, and each season will cover the next. The series will premiere on Christmas Day later this year.
New Cast Brings Hogwarts To Life

HBO shared a still image one day before the trailer. It showed Harry walking toward the Quidditch pitch with his broom, giving fans an early look at Hogwarts life. Fans noticed some small details in that image. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff flags were visible on the stadium doors.

A hand-drawn banner saying “Fred and George” also appeared, hinting that the Weasley twins may already be part of the story. That image and the trailer connect clearly. The still shows Harry nearing one part of Hogwarts, while the trailer shows his full arrival and entry into the school.
HBO had already announced the main cast earlier. Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger. Lox Pratt plays Draco Malfoy, while Alessia Leoni, Leo Earley, and Rory Wilmot appear as Parvati Patil, Seamus Finnigan, and Neville Longbottom.
The Hogwarts teachers also play an important role in Harry’s early days. John Lithgow plays Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu plays Professor Snape, Janet McTeer plays Professor McGonagall, and Nick Frost plays Hagrid.
Harry has finally reached Hogwarts, and now, he’s ready to begin his story all over again for a new generation of Potterheads!
