Serena Williams recently faced defeat from Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic, during the third round of the U.S. Open tennis championships. She lost her third-round clash 7-5, 6-7 (4/7), 6-1.

Williams has won 23 Grand Slam titles in her career, which is the most by any player in the Open Era. She is positioned second in the all-time tennis records.

Also known as the ‘Serena Slam’, Williams won all four major singles titles between the 2002 French Open to the 2003 Australian Open.

Recently, Serena announced that she will be retiring from sports to focus on her personal life and business ventures. During the US Open, she was asked if she will reconsider, to which she responded: “I don’t think so, but you never know.”

In Tennis, Grand Slam is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one year. It is also called the ‘Calendar-year Grand Slam’ or ‘Calendar Slam’.

Legendary Australian tennis player Margaret Court holds the record for the most Grand Slam wins in Women’s singles, with 24 major single titles.

She has a total of 64 major titles in her name including 19 Grand Slam women’s doubles and 21 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. This is a record in entire Tennis history.

When it comes to the finale tournament record, Chris Evert has 34 wins while Serena Williams has 33. For the semi-final, Chris has 52 wins. Serena and Chris share a tie of 54 for the quarter-finals.
