Matthew Morrison Gives Clarification
Matthew Morrison Recently, Mathew Morrison uploaded a video on his Instagram and addressed his exit from SYTYCD, disclosing the entire alleged message that was termed ‘flirty’ and cost him his role as a judge. He started by saying, “It’s unfortunate that I have to sit here and defend myself and my family against blatantly untrue statements made anonymously, but I have nothing to hide. So, in the interest of transparency… I will read to you the one message I wrote to a dancer on the show“. The message read “Hey, it’s Matthew. If you don’t mind, would love to get your number to talk you through some things.” He captioned the post ‘just to clarify’.
Morrison explained that he wanted to reach the contestant because they both shared a ‘mutual respect’ for a choreographer. He wanted that choreographer to get a job on the show. Probably it was the contestant who reported the message in such a way that it questioned his image. Morrison expressed his disappointment with American dance shows as his experience in the UK was quite different. According to him, there, contestant and judge interaction was never an issue.
It’s Time For A Flashback
Mathew Morrison left SYTYCD mid-way through his first season of judging in May. The actor chalked it up to disregarding “competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly”. Later, a source told People that Morrison had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant,” which took place through “flirty direct messages on social media.” The source added that Fox investigated the matter after the contestant complained. “She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers,” said the source. (The source also clarified that Morrison and the contestant “never met up off-set”).
The show has still not confirmed a replacement judge yet.
