It is a myth that actors and actresses drop out of school and take the first bus to Los Angeles to pursue their Hollywood dreams. Some of these celebrities and stars made it to Hollywood with prestigious degrees attached to their names, while some pursued their education alongside their acting career.
Before walking on the red carpet, these stars have walked the common man’s hallways and received their degrees. Here’s a list of some of the most educated stars of Hollywood.

Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling, who is currently leading Netflix with her TV series, ‘Never Have I Ever,’ was encouraged by her father to pursue an education of the finest quality. She excelled in her private school, and soon she was pursuing a playwriting major at Dartmouth College. Her intellectual brain was also overtly creative, as Kaling was found doing improv comedy, acapella singing, and drawing, at every nook and corner of the college. She moved to New York and worked as a production assistant while also doing theatre and standup comedy. Her first breakthrough came with her first off-Broadway play, ‘Matt & Ben.’ What followed then was Kaling as a writer-performer for ‘The Office’, which ran for nine successful years. She is one of the most influential South Asian women in Hollywood.
Rowan Atkinson
Rowan Atkinson played the dummy foolish guy, Mr. Bean, and has been known ever since for his exceptional comedic performance. The 67-year-old actor has quite the credentials to his name. He has a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Oxford University. He started performing in sketches while attending Oxford. Atkinson also suffers from a bad stutter, which he says goes away when he’s playing characters.
Ken Jeong
Kendrick Kang-Joh Jeong had his acting breakthrough with his role in the film, ‘Knocked Up.’ He played Katherine Heigl’s doctor and had a lot of practice on his hands since he had a medical degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He received his undergrad degree from the prestigious Duke University. By the time he had signed up for ‘The Hangover,’ he was already a general practitioner.

Emma Watson has received her schooling and higher studies from prestigious, quality institutions. She graduated with an English degree from Brown University and spent her junior year at Oxford. In 2016, Emma was also appointed as a visiting fellow at Lady Margaret Hall by Oxford.
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher is very close to his twin brother, who suffers from cerebral palsy. His tender-hearted love for his brother made him enroll in a major in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa, in 1996. Through this major, he aimed to find a cure for his brother. A talent scout spotted Ashton there, and soon, he stepped into Hollywood.
Hugh Jackman
The Wolverine actor is highly educated. He began his higher studies by pursuing BA in Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney. Afterward, he pursued acting at the Actors’ Centre in Sydney to hone his acting skills. This wasn’t where Hugh Jackman stopped.
