A fresh spin on Eternia, the ‘Masters of the Universe‘ film promises plenty of high-flying action and epic fantasy spectacle. Nicholas Galitzine, who’s playing Adam Glenn/He-Man, says the actual battle unfolds within the characters themselves. The actor recently hinted that beneath the muscle and magic lies a very rich, character-driven story that could really surprise longtime fans.
Rather than simply grappling with cosmic foes, the storied hero’s journey goes for something much more personal. Along with co-star Camila Mendes, Galitzine says the blockbuster explores serious inner conflict, arguing that genuine power comes not from a sword but from emotional honesty and facing your own weaknesses head-on.
Galitzine Says He-Man’s Greatest Battle Is Internal

As expected, ‘Masters of the Universe’ is set to feature plenty of action sequences. But in his recent conversation with ‘DiscussingFilm,’ Nicholas Galitzine revealed that the themes of identity and self-acceptance remain at the heart of its storyline.
Highlighting Prince Adam’s journey, the actor explained how the story explores the consequences of rejecting parts of oneself and allowing pride to take control. Galitzine summed up the theme, saying, “If you don’t embrace all these parts of yourself, if you let pride and hubris essentially rule your life, you end up in a dungeon both emotionally and physically.”
Through Adam’s transformation into He-Man, the film shows how the character must embrace vulnerability, responsibility, and strength to become the hero he is always meant to be. Galitzine teased that Adam deals with more than just the physical confrontations expected in the series.
In fact, much of the character’s development comes not just from building up his will but from facing his own uncertainty and weakness. By accepting all aspects of himself, he realizes that being a hero is about self-knowledge and learning to balance love and hate, acceptance and rejection.
Mendes Says Teela Finds Strength In Vulnerability

In light of the film’s broader point, Mendes elaborated during the press tour that Teela’s arc is all about emotional openness. Camila Mendes explained that her character begins believing she must carry every burden herself, keeping her guard up to protect herself from emotional vulnerability.

Teela learns, over the course of her journey, to realize that vulnerability is a source of strength in itself, not a weakness. Mendes argues her character’s journey serves the film’s greater thematic purpose: growth is not about wearing pride, fear, or other defense mechanisms as armor, but embracing your complete self.
According to the ‘Riverdale’ actress, much of Teela’s growth mirrors the emotional conflicts that other characters face in this film. During her arc, she learns that rather than pushing others away, she needs to rely on the people surrounding her and understand that isolation does not yield strength.
By allowing herself to be vulnerable and to connect with others, Teela ultimately gains a deeper understanding of both herself and her purpose. ‘The Master of the Universe’ is playing in theaters at the time of publication.
