Remedy Entertainment Reveals Max Payne 1 And 2 Has The Same Budget As ‘Alan Wake 2’

The Max Payne series is a dark, narrative-driven third-person shooter game franchise developed by Remedy Entertainment and later by Rockstar Studios. The games follow the story of Max Payne, a former NYPD detective turned vigilante, as he seeks vengeance for the murder of his wife and daughter.

The remakes for the 1 and 2 of the game were previously announced in April 2022. However, it was at a half until Rockstar decided to chime in and finance its development.

Max Payne’s Remake Will Cost The Developers over $50 Million

After finalizing the remakes for the games, Remedy Entertainment shared more insight about the budget Rockstar had provided. “Max Payne remakes have been treated to a similar development budget as Alan Wake,” said Remedy.

it is not being revealed whether the game has reached full production or not. However, it is expected to start in 2024 and take around 2-2.5 years. Additionally, Alan Wake 2 had cost around $75 Million reportedly. However, after deducting the $21.5 million marketing budget and according to Remedy’s financial report the development can cost them nearly $55 million.

The first game, ‘Max Payne (2001)’, introduces players to Max’s tragic backstory. From his relentless pursuit of justice to battling drug lords and corrupt officials it has it all. Additionally, ‘Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003)’ continues Max’s story. It delves deeper into his troubled psyche and his relationship with Mona Sax.

The third game ‘Max Payne (2012)’, developed by Rockstar Studios, sees Max battling his inner demons. While working as a private security contractor in São Paulo, Brazil. Moreover, Throughout the series, players experience Max’s emotional turmoil, intense shootouts, and a narrative filled with betrayal, redemption, and the struggle against inner demons.
