Sesame Place is being called out for racism everywhere ever since a video of a staff member snubbing two black girls went viral. As soon as the video went viral they tried to cover up the whole incident. They declared that this was a mistake that happened just once.
But videos shared by other parents suggest otherwise. These particular videos depict just how common racism is at Sesame Place and that it has been going on for a long time. Here is everything you need to know about the aftermath of the viral video.
Videos Shared By Other Parents Depict Racial Bias
The Instagram account @frobabies, posted the videos shared by other parents giving clear proof of racism at Sesame Place. One parent told @frobabies, “She [Rosita] ignored [my daughter] Lola TWICE last Sunday (July 10). Lola ran up to her saying ‘ROSITA!’ The character went out of their way to change course and Immediately after hugged and took a pic with a little white girl. Investigate this pattern.”

This has been occurring for quite a long time. One person sent a video of their black niece trying to get a hug from the Muppet. But the Muppet paid no attention and a white child got the first preference for the hug. “This was 2019 before the pandemic!!” the sender wrote. Rosita is not the only one doing racism. There are others as well. Another clip featured Honker pushing a black child to the ground.

“I was furious on this day waited hours for the manager that never came out,” the unnamed parent told @frobabies. “We ended up leaving. After seeing all these videos I’m sure it was done on purpose. This is supposed to be a safe/ friendly environment for children. This is sick to have these people behind them costumes, hurting these kids. They love these characters it’s sad!”
Sesame Place Releases A Statement
Sesame Place released a statement on Tuesday saying that they are going to make sure that nothing of this sort happens in the future after the first video went viral. “We sincerely apologize to the family for their experience in our park on Saturday; we know that it’s not OK,” they said in a statement. “We will conduct training for our employees so they better understand, recognize and deliver an inclusive, equitable and entertaining experience to our guests.”
