Oprah Winfrey, also known as Orpah Gail Winfrey, is an American talk show host, television personality, author, and actress. She is best known for her talk show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’. Dubbed the ‘Queen of the Media’, Oprah was the only Black billionaire for many years and is still one of the richest Black people in the world. She has a lot of supporters across the globe but at the same time also has feuded with some celebs. One such person is Mo’Nique.
Mo’Nique is an American stand-up comedian and actress. She has won many accolades like an Academy Award, SAG Award, Golden Globe award, and BAFTA award. Mo’Nique has been very vocal about Oprah’s rude and insensitive behavior toward her. The duo has been feuding since the release of the 2009 movie ‘Precious‘. The movie was made by Lee Daniels along with Winfrey and Tyler Perry. So, why Mo’Nique wants Oprah to apologize?

Start Of The Feud Between Oprah Winfrey And Mo’Nique
The feud between Oprah and Mo’Nique started when Mo’Nique starred in the 2009 movie ‘Precious‘ which was made by Lee Daniels and produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry. The movie was a critical success and gained buzz during the awards season. The filmmakers wanted to take advantage of this and wanted to send Mo’Nique on a press tour for the film.
However, Mo’Nique decided not to go on a press tour after she was refused compensation for the same. She said to Oprah, “Oprah, I’m doing a talk show. I’m doing a comedy tour. I have a husband and I have babies, I have a little bit of downtime and I’m going to take advantage of it. So I’m not going anywhere because I’m not obligated to go anywhere. I’ve done my part.”
After her refusal, Daniels reportedly told her, “Mama, I agree with what you’re saying. I just don’t think it’s going to play out well for you.” Mo’Nique felt as if the whole incident maligned her image. She said, “Next thing I know, I am considered ‘difficult’ and ‘hard to work with.” Everyone considered Mo’Nique to be a problem and she was ‘blackballed’ in Hollywood. She found it very hard to book roles despite having won many awards.

Talk Show Episode That Widened The Crack
The feud aggravated when Winfrey hosted Mo’Nique’s family on her show. Mo’Nique has been vocal about how her brother sexually abused her in childhood and how her family did not support her when she tried to report it. When Oprah got in touch with Mo’Nique before filming the episode with her brother, the comedian cleared that she didn’t want to be a part of the episode but said that she was OK with just her brother showing up.
But when the episode aired, in addition to her brother, both her parents were also present in the episode. Mo’Nique was very disappointed with Oprah as she had earlier told Oprah how her family had downplayed the abuse she suffered and yet the talk show host allowed all of them on her show.
Mo’Nique said about her mother, “We weren’t even speaking, then I see the show and I can tell that my mother is trying to make a dollar. I know my family.” When Mo’Nique tried to talk to Oprah about the episode, she couldn’t get in touch with her.
It was years after in 2014 that she was able to confront Oprah. According to the comedian, Oprah said that she wasn’t aware that the parents were going to tag along with the brother which Mo’Nique felt was a lie.
Mo’Nique claims that Oprah said, “I’m going to look into your mother and father being on the show, because I didn’t know anything about that,” before adding something like, “If I’ve done anything to offend you, I apologize.'” Unlike her feud with Daniels, her feud with Winfrey hasn’t yet been resolved. But one day she hopes she receives a public apology from Winfrey.
