Brendan Fraser was born on December 3, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the son of Carol and Peter Fraser. He is an American-Canadian actor who is known for portraying the character of Rick O’Connell in ‘The Mummy’ film series. Fraser is also an accomplished photographer and has displayed his skills with the camera in a variety of movies and TV programs.
Fraser made back-to-back hit films in the 1990s. But, we didn’t see much from this actor after that. He made his journey to fame with notable and hit films like ‘George of the Jungle‘, ‘The Mummy Franchise‘, Encino Man,’ ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth‘, and ‘Crash‘. In mid 2000s, Fraser reached the peak of his career but then disappeared completely from Hollywood life. So, what happened?

Why Did Brendan Fraser Disappear?
People started noticing Fraser taking lesser roles. This was around 2010 his fans started questioning him regarding his inactivity. To this, Brendan gave out a statement saying that he is taking a break because of a chronic pain. He revealed that this was because of the stunts he used to perform. “By the time I did the third Mummy picture in China, I was put together with tape and ice—just, like, really nerdy and fetishy about ice packs,” Brendan explained. “Screw-cap ice packs and downhill-mountain-biking pads, ’cause they’re small and light and they can fit under your clothes. I was building an exoskeleton for myself daily.”
In 2018, Brendan Fraser also opened up in an interview with GQ saying that he was sexually assaulted by a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Fraser claimed HFPA’s Philip Berk assaulted him at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2003. The incident even caused him to go into depression.
“I don’t know if this curried disfavor with the group, with the HFPA. But the silence was deafening,” Fraser said. “The phone does stop ringing in your career, and you start asking yourself why. There are many reasons, but was this one of them? I think it was,” said Brendon.

Where Is Fraser Now?
Brendan admitted that his life has completely changed from what it used to be. “I changed houses, I went through a divorce. Some kids were born. I mean, they were born, but they’re growing up. I was going through things that mold and shape you in ways that you’re not ready for until you go through them,” Fraser explained. He got divorced from his wife, Afton Smith, in 2008 after 10 years of tying the knot. He currently lives in a New York suburb.
Although he didn’t take up any big roles, nowadays he kept himself busy with small TV roles. Fraser currently plays Cliff Steele AKA Robotman in the DC Comics-based series ‘Doom Patrol‘. In 2022, he was cast as Firefly in the DC movie ‘Batgirl‘. ‘The Whale‘ is Brendan Fraser’s comeback movie. The film premiered at Venice Film Festival on Sunday, September 4, and the screening saw the actor receive a six-minute standing ovation to which the actor got emotional. The recognition at the event received by Fraser is said to have led him to cry. ‘The Whale‘ is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on December 9, 2022. The film will be receiving an exclusive theatrical release.
