Denzel Washington Refused To Call The Second Installment Of ‘The Equalizer’ A Sequel
The success of ‘The Equalizer’ helped the makers to create another installment of the film, which also proved to have a decent success. Now, Sony Pictures, along with Italy’s Eagle Pictures and Garbo Produzioni, is working on ‘The Equalizer 3’ where Denzel is reprising his role as the former US Marine Robert McCall.
However, in July 2018, during the premiere of ‘The Equalizer 2’, Washington refused to call the film a sequel to the first film. The actor said, “You know, everybody keeps using that word—sequel.” The film followed the story of McCall, who wants justice for the oppressed and voiceless, and he helps Miles Whittaker (Ashton Sanders) to get out of the gang culture. He continued, “It’s a story without an ending and it’s open-ended, so here we are.”
‘The Equalizer 3’ will hit theaters on September 1st, 2023.
