Musk had come up with the plan to charge $8 a month to verified accounts of individuals and organizations on Twitter. However, it had to be withheld after several fake profiles ended up getting verified.

However, Musk has defended his actions and said that the blue check mark will be the “great leveler“. “Widespread verification will democratize journalism & empower the voice of the people,” he said.

Trent Reznor Talks About Musk’s Twitter Takeover
Musk’s sweeping changes in Twitter and laying off thousands of employees isn’t sitting well with people. Several users and celebrities have called him out, including composer Trent Reznor.
In a recent interview, the Oscar winner talked about leaving Twitter where he enjoys 1.6 million followers. “I’m about to depart. We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything.”
He continued, “Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment. For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.” Trent also called the entire fiasco an “embarrassment.”
