Will Smith was in the news this year for all the wrong reasons. The 53-year-old shocked the world after he slapped Chris Rock at this year’s 94th Academy Awards; it was in response to a joke Chris cracked on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia.
He faced backlash and criticism for his actions. He was banned from attending the Oscar ceremony for ten years. Now, Will has issued a video where he has addressed everything. He also revealed whether his wife Jada asked him to slap Chris or not.

Smith Talks About The Oscar Slap Incident
On July 29, Will Smith posted a video on his official YouTube channel. In the five minutes 44-second long video, ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ actor has addressed the Oscar slap controversy.
Halfway through the video, Smith was asked by the YouTube comment section, ‘After Jada rolled her eyes, did she tell you to do something?‘.
Smith’s response was no. He said, “It’s like I made a choice on my own from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it.”
The Academy Award-winning actor then added, “I’m sorry babe. I’m gonna say sorry to my kids and my family for the heat that I brought on all of us.”
Smith Reveals Why He Didn’t Apologize At The Acceptance Speech
In the lengthy apology video, Smith also talked about reaching out to Chris Rock. But the comedian is not willing to discuss the matter at this point.
Will is asked why didn’t he apologize to Chris during the acceptance speech. He said, “I was fogged out by that point. It was all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he is not ready to talk.”
He continued, “When he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris. I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I am here whenever you are ready to talk.”
The actor also apologized to the comedian’s mother and stated that he was unaware of the number of people he “hurt at that moment.” He concluded the video, “I can say that there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave at that moment. There is no part of me that thinks that that is the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.”
