How Did Prince Harry Ask Meghan Markle To Be His Wife?
We all are aware that Prince Harry‘s elder brother Prince William proposed Kate Middleton with his mother’s engagement ring. The ring too was given by Harry only as he chose it between the two possessions from his mother Princess Diana’s inheritance. However, when Harry had to propose Meghan, he had no ring at that point. Therefore, he took some diamonds from her late mother’s collection and made a customized ring for his ladylove.
The whole story of the proposal was stated by both Harry and Meghan in an interview back in 2017. On what Harry described as “just a standard, typical night for us,” he asked Meghan to marry him, and she accepted. After that, Meghan said, “It was just a pleasant evening; yet, what were we doing? Chicken a la rotisserie and… And it was just—just a wonderful surprise.” Meghan further described it as so innocent and natural and extremely romantic.
Meghan recalled, “He got on one knee. The thought crossed my mind. Can I say yes now?” To this, Harry added, “I think I managed to catch her by surprise as well,” referring to the fact that it was just the two of them at the time. It was certainly a wonderful moment.

‘Harry & Meghan’ Documentary Reveals Unknown Details About The Proposal
The 2017 interview was a short briefing about the proposal. However, after five years of dating, Harry and Meghan have opened up about the beginning of their relationship. They have also opened up about the proposal in the new Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan‘. As it turns out, Meghan wasn’t all that surprised. Also contrary to popular belief (based on the fact that they claimed the proposal occurred while they were roasting chicken), it did not take place inside Kensington Palace.
Instead, it took place in the north garden. A bottle of champagne was opened by Harry while his wife was preparing a chicken for roasting. “That was a minor spoiler, though. You don’t drink champagne,” she said. So, what’s the big deal? I merely “had it laying around here, whatever,” Harry said.” To her pal Jess, presumably Jessica Mulroney, she then forwarded a video.
Harry revealed he proposed with “15 of those electric lamps” in the north garden overlooking the staff apartments. “Sure, I knelt down and proposed. I did, of course.” As Meghan described it, “When he got down on one knee, all I could say was, “Yes! That’s how happy and thrilled I was. It hit me at that moment that ah, we’re doing this.”
Later in the episode, Meghan’s pal Lucy Fraser exclaimed, “They were so joyful.” The announcement was scheduled for a few weeks later, so they decided to keep quiet.
