Peter Morgan, the creator of ‘The Crown‘, recently hinted that he might write about the Royal Family again. ‘The Crown’ ended with its sixth season in 2016. The series has been honored with twenty-one Emmy awards. The creator of the Netflix show stated in an interview that he is not done with the royals yet.
The series focused on the reign of the late Queen of England, Elizabeth II. For the first two seasons, Claire Foy played the Queen. Imelda Staunton portrayed the monarch for the final season. The show began with the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953 and ended in 2005 with her son, Prince Charles’ marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles.

Peter Morgan Hints Creating More Shows Like ‘The Crown’
‘The Crown’ creator stated that he is willing to make more series based on the English monarchy. ” I don’t think I’m done with the subject,” Morgan confessed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The royals seem to be Morgan’s forte with creating similar films like ‘The Queen’, based on Princess Diana’s death, and ‘The Last King of Scotland’. He said, “I think it is only because the material was such a joy to write and it was such a joy to work on that I had the energy and the stamina to do everything.”
However, the writer is disheartened that streamers would not be able to make a similar financial commitment as they did before with ‘The Crown’. Netflix claims that the series had a fat budget of $13 million per episode. “But I can’t see them doing it now, which is a great shame because these things are unique,” Morgan said. Thus, the writer might not be able to replicate his work.

Morgan claims that he does not want to dive into the royal family’s current affairs, which are already very controversial. “For the time being, I cannot imagine any circumstances in which I’d want to go further into the present,” he said. However, the writer is willing to go into the royalty’s past. Morgan suggested, “I might find some way of coming into it from a different way.”
He added, “If you go back in time, you always have that wonderful opportunity for metaphor. You can find a story in the past and tell that, and it [will] actually be a story about the present, but in camouflage.” Morgan believes that continuing from where he ended the show “feels too soon”.
