Where To Watch King Charles’ Coronation Live On TV?

King Charles III ascended to the throne after his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022. He was the longest-serving Prince of Wales and heir apparent in British history. His coronation ceremony is slated to take place on the morning of May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey.

The event will crown Charles as the King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms. It will be different than previous coronation ceremonies in several ways. But people have been wondering where one can watch the program live on television.

The coronation ceremony will start at 11 a.m. local time (around 6 AM in eastern and 3 AM in Pacific time). In the United Kingdom, one can watch the event on BBC and BBC Radio.

In the US, people can watch it live on ABC and CNN as well as BBC America. Several other major news channels are also expected to have access to live coverage. It will be also available online, via Sky News’ YouTube channel as well as on the social media platforms ITV.

The ceremony will include oaths, ceremonies, and processions. It will be short in length compared to Elizabeth’s coronation and will represent different faiths, communities, and cultures.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace stated: “The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort. The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”

On the coronation day, there will be two processions on London’s street; one of them will be to take Charles to be crowned. The other one will be a bigger parade for the royal family’s balcony appearance.

The monarchy has also unveiled a special emoji, inspired by St Edward’s Crown, that will be used on Twitter for hashtags on the coronation day. Charles will be driven in a Diamond Jubilee State coach which was used by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2014. The route of his procession has also been revealed.
