With a little terror and the concept of a weird nuclear family, The Addams family has perfectly captured the gothic atmosphere. Each member of the family possesses unique characteristics. Numerous actors portrayed the family throughout the years and the audience has always liked it.
The concept of The Addams family was introduced in the 1930’s through a comic book. Since then the entertainment industry has interpreted the roles in various ways through movies and series. Wednesday is the primary character in the narrative and the actress Jenna Ortega got the right amount of recognition for her role in the same. However, she’s not the one who has portrayed the role so brilliantly. Here is the list of all the actors who have played the role of Wednesday Addams till now.

1. Lisa Loring
The very first actor to play the iconic role of Wednesday Adams was Lisa Loring. The show ran from 1964-1966 with 64 episodes in total. Loring’s Wednesday was more towards the sweet girl side than compared to the other Wednesday interpretations. She was the younger child in the story rather than the older one.
Furthermore, she did have the characteristics of the Typical Wednesday Addams. She loved the color black and enjoyed keeping a black widow as her pet, with her favorite doll being headless. The show was later reprised with the adult Wednesday and Lisa made a comeback for the role in 1977 for ‘New Addams Family’.
2. Cindy Henderson
The second Wednesday Addams was portrayed by Cindy Henderson. She did a voice-over in a 1972 animated series for the animated series of ‘The New Scooby-Doo’ Movies for the episode called ‘Wednesday Is Missing‘.
‘The Addams Family’ was also given its sitcom in 1973 when Henderson again joined and gave her voice for the role. However, the series only lasted for one season.
3. Christina Ricci
The most well-known and one of the best roles of Wednesday Addams was played by Christina Ricci in the 1990’s ‘The Addams Family’. The film was a perfect balance of the dark gothic theme and was a successful representation of the Wednesday Addams.
Moreover, after the role of Ricci, Wednesday was made a major 90’s pop icon. She reprised the role in 1993’s ‘Addams Family Values‘ and yet again she was successful in the role.
4. Debi Derryberry
Later, after the success of ‘The Addams Family’ the character was picked again for the portrayal but this time it was an animated TV series. The show ran for two seasons and still is an accurate representation of the character of Wednesday but with slight changes as well.
5. Nicole Fugere
The character yet again had a perfect representation of Wednesday Addams. Which aired on YTV in Canada and Fox Family in the US. The New Addams lasted for a total of 65 episodes for one season. The iconic role was played by Nicole Fugere, who also played the role in 1998 in ‘Addams Family Reunion‘.

6. Chloë Grace Moretz
This was the first big-budget Wednesday Addams movie which was released in 2019 and 2021. The movie was again a lore-accurate representation of the character with a bit of a sweet side as well.
In both films, the middle school-aged ‘Wednesday Addams family’ actress was Chloë Grace Moretz also known for her roles in ‘500 Days Of Summer‘ and Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows‘.
7. Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega portrayed the most recent role of Wednesday Addams. The character got much hype and the series was also a major hit. Jenna depicted the role of a teenager Wednesday who studies at Nevermore Academy. She wears black, doesn’t like hugs, and is awkward.
This was the first time that a major production of The Addams Family portrayed a teenager Wednesday. Jenna Ortega will be returning for season 2 of ‘Wednesday’ on Netflix.
