‘House Of The Dragon‘ season 2 has delivered its first battle with dragons and it is epic. The Battle of Rook’s Rest saw a fierce battle between Princess Rhaenys and Meleys, her dragon from team Black and Aemond with Vhagar and Aegon with Sunfyre from team Green.
The episode had many nail-biting moments along with a big heartbreak. And it has become one of the highest-rated episodes of ‘House Of The Dragon’. Now, author George R.R. Martin has given his full support and approval of the episode.
George R.R. Martin Praises The Action In ‘House Of The Dragon’ Battle Episode
‘House Of The Dragon’ is the adaptation of ‘Fire And Blood‘, one of George R.R. Martin’s books. And the author himself is showering love on the new episode of the series on his Not A Blog website. Martin writes about how he loved the Rook’s Rest battle scene.
Martin wrote on ‘Not A Blog‘, “I trust you all caught ‘The Red Dragon and the Gold,’ the fourth episode of season 2 of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.” He continued, “A lot of you have been waiting for action, I know; this episode delivered it in spades with the Battle of Rook’s Rest, when dragon met dragon in the skies.”

George R. R. Martin Compares Rook’s Rest Battle To ‘Reign Of Fire’
The ‘Game Of Thrones‘ author compared the epic battle scene from the ‘House Of The Dragon‘ to another epic post-apocalyptic movie. ‘Reign Of Fire‘ is Rob Bowman’s 2002 movie on dragons as well. And George R. R. Martin seems to think that only this can match the dragon battle of Rook’s Rest.
Martin wrote, “Has there ever been a dragon battle to match it? I seem to recall that REIGN OF FIRE had a few scenes where a dozen dragons were wheeling through the skies.” He continued, “So, okay, maybe that was a bigger scene, with more dragons on screen… but a better battle?” Martin added, “I don’t think so. Our guys knocked this one out of the castle. I think they took it as a challenge.”
