‘The Boys‘ season 4 has taken the world of TV shows by storm, more so because it is ending with season 5. Showrunner Eric Kripke has been very vocal about the show as well as the fan queries and theories that gain traction. Addressing another rather weird query, Kripke recently issued an explanation on his social media handle.
According to Kripke, a lot of people wanted to know about one particular thing that happened on the season 4 premiere. On the show, Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman finds an unexpected visual as she swipes her phone — a close-up photo of Billy Butcher’s butthole. After the scene, fans were abuzz with doubts if it was the actual picture of actor Karl Urban’s butthole, and Kripke has an answer.
Eric Kripke Went Through “20 Different Butthole Shots” To Choose One
Eric Kripke took to X (Twitter) to clarify the doubt that ‘The Boys‘ fans had about Karl Urban’s butthole appearing on the show. He confirmed that the picture is not the real picture of his butthole. Though he asserted that it should have been obvious, there have allegedly been enough inquiries on social media to draw his attention.
“Because hundreds of you asked: the butthole from #TheBoys Season 4, Ep 1 is NOT Butcher’s (or Karl’s),” Kripke wrote in his X post on Sunday night. “We hired a model (I don’t know his name). I chose the pic, based on about 20 different butthole shots. Yep, Hollywood is a glamorous dream factory.”

Though the butthole was not real, how actress Claudia Doumit reacted after seeing it was real, as confirmed by Kripke. “That was Claudia’s real reaction at seeing the picture for the first time. All authentic,” he explained during an interview.

‘The Boys’ Season 4 Is Not Short Of Some Bizarre Moments
In an episode of ‘The Boys‘ season 4, Billy Butcher’s character played by Karl Urban, tries to negotiate with Victoria Neuman to get his hands on the supe-killing virus first seen in the ‘Gen V‘ spinoff. In return, Neuman demands the secret Red River file as collateral.
Butcher appears to comply but later sends her a butthole photo instead, revealing his true intentions. Other than this, the season 4 premiere is filled with wild moments, including Rob Benedict’s debut as Splinter who can replicate himself in grotesque ways.
Benedict ends up using this power for bizarre pleasures, including creating a human centipede of his own clones. Speaking about the same to Entertainment Weekly, Kripke said, “I was very upfront with Rob.”
“The moment I heard he was interested, I reached out personally. He’s a friend, so I emailed him, explaining the character’s role and the extensive nudity involved,” he added. Episode 4 of the show is set to drop this Thursday.
