‘How I Met Your Mother’: How Did Ted Meet Tracy?

How I Met Your Mother‘ is an American sitcom created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays starring, Neil Patrick Harrison, Alyson Hannigan, and Josh Radnor along with Jason Segel and Cobbie Smulders. The series is loosely inspired by the lives of Thomas and Bays when they lived in London. In 2010, Hannigan won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy Actress. In 2012, the series won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Network TV Comedy, and Neil won the award for Favorite TV Comedy Actor twice.

The series is set in flashback, Ted narrates the story of how he met ‘the mother’ in 2030, to his daughter Penny and his son Luke. His stories are narrated to his adolescent children by Bob Saget as Ted Mosby 25 years later. The narrative deals primarily with Ted’s best friends, including the long-lasting couple Marshall Eriksen and Lily Aldrin, playboy Barney Stinson, and Canadian news reporter Robert Scherbatsky. All of the characters’ lives are entwined. The series simultaneously explores the storylines of all the characters dealing with the ups and down of their lives. Basically, many feel it is ‘Friends‘ set in a pub, McLaren’s Pub instead of a coffee shop.

How Did Ted Meet Tracy In ‘How I Met Your Mother’?

Throughout the series, we travel with Ted Mosby on the quest of finding his true love. After being in several relationships and making us wait for what felt like an eternity, he finally landed on ‘the mother’. Ted and Tracy McConnell officially met in ‘Last Forever – Part two’ after Barney and Robin got married. They met at Frahampton Train Station, sharing the yellow umbrella. Ted and Tracy share a very messy timeline. Surprisingly, this is not the first time they met, they had crossed paths several times before.

Ted first saw Tracy in ‘Definitions’ when he accidentally taught the Economics class. She was still in love with her deceased boyfriend Max, who died in 2005. Ted met Tracy’s roommate Cindy on ‘Girls Versus Suits’ later that year they dated but eventually broke up. In the fall of 2012, Barney was trying to hit on girls at a drug store when he ran into Tracy, who told him to go get the girl of his dreams.

After Barney and Robin get engaged, Ted runs into Cindy on the subway and informs her that they don’t have a band for the wedding so Cindy tells Ted to hire her ex-roommates band for the wedding. Tracy helped Robin calm down before the wedding so she could get married which led to her not running away with Ted, and she got to meet Ted at the station a few hours later.

    How Did The Series End?

The series was criticized for its season finale – when Ted returns back to Robin. Ted and Tracy are portrayed to be the perfect couple but unfortunately couldn’t find a happy ending. Tracy was seen to be she is suffering from an illness and it would have been impossible for her to survive till 2024. Throughout the time of their relationship, Tracy knew Ted could never love her the way he loved Robin.

Basically, Ted narrated the entire story to his story only to realize his love for Robin. In the series finale, Ted runs over to Robin’s flat with the Blue trumpet. This incident brewed the yellow-blue theory of the show. Basically yellow represents Tracy who brought happiness and warmth into Ted’s life. Blue represents Robin who never failed to be there for him.
