‘Only Murders in the Building’ is nearing the end of the third season and fans have gone wild figuring out who the murderer might be this time. If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll know how the series keeps building suspense until the very last episode and ends up revealing someone to be a murderer who you didn’t even expect.
This season isn’t any different. While we fangirl over the stellar cast with the likes of Selena Gomez, comedic genius Martin Short, the amazing Steve Martin, Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep, here are our top predictions on who might be the killer, along with a little help from fans on the internet.

Only Murder(ers) In The Building
The third season of the Emmy-nominated series focuses on another murder that happens in Arconia, where the show is based, and this time the victim is Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), a less than humble but star actor who plays the lead in Oliver Putnam’s play.
Glenroy’s unlikable nature makes it harder to pinpoint the murder of one person, seeing as he got into almost everyone’s hate books, including Charles (played by Steve Martin) and Loretta (played by Meryl Streep).
While the trio tries to solve a murder while also having a musical to produce, there are clues and hints everywhere on who the killer might be and for what motive. The eighth episode in the show revealed how Ben Glenroy’s adopted brother, Dickie, is in fact Loretta’s son, whom she had when she was young and thus, when the police approach Dickie to interrogate him about the murder, Loretta ends up covering for Dickie and coming forward as Ben Glenroy’s murderer. Does it end here? Pfft, it’s ‘Only Murders in the Building‘ we’re talking about, and there’s no way viewers will get to know who the murderer is that easily. So taking some wild guesses, here’s who we think killed Ben Glenroy:
In Case You Missed It: Why Steve Martin Might Retire After ‘Only Murders In The Building’
Ben Glenroy’s Killer On ‘Only Murders In The Building’
First on the list of suspects is Loretta. Yes, the charming Loretta, who managed to thaw our Charles’ heart. Motive? Well, it might simply be because of how she felt about Ben overshadowing Dickie’s life. Ben stole Dickie’s ideas and made them into an entire career. There’s also a bit of mystery surrounding Loretta, and she had a strained relationship with Ben.
Second, we have Dickie himself. Ah yes, killing off your younger brother who took away your whole life’s work only to credit himself for it definitely seems like a good reason to murder someone. Dickie also says in a scene with Loretta how he felt so ‘free’ after Ben got poisoned once. But if you’ve ever read a really good murder mystery, you’d know that the killer is never so obvious and Dickie seems to be one of the easiest suspects
Third, there’s Donna and Cliff. The affluent mother-son duo, who are putting millions into the show. Throwback to season 1, when Theo killed Zoe, and then his father, Teddy, framed Mabel’s friend Oscar for the murder. So that’s a pattern. A wild theory is that Ben wasn’t exactly killed; he might have just lost balance and fallen down the elevator shaft. Or he was having an argument with Cliff and maybe ‘accidentally’ he falls down. There’s a scene in Episode 8 where Donna talks about how she would do anything to protect her son. Anything might include covering up a murder and trying to frame someone.
Another suspect is Howard, who keeps on getting inserted here and there with some of his theories, making him another suspect. While Charles’ love interest, Joy, also made her name on the list. Why was her lipstick found in Ben Glenroy’s makeup room? But revealing Joy to be the killer would be kind of repetitive, as the first season’s killer was Charles’ love interest, Jan.
Which brings us to our ultimate suspect: Tobert. Who has been getting his nose into the investigation? Tobert. Who tried to get close to Mabel and then asked to help her make a podcast on the murder? Tobert. Who is constantly being seen in places he has no business in? It’s Tobert. There’s a high chance of Tobert being the murderer, as Mabel notes in the eighth episode about how killers like to take part in investigations.
The last episode will come out on October 3. Till then, all we can do is wait for the killer reveal.
