The abrupt cancellation of ‘Gen V’ was unexpected for fans, but if you thought that was the end of its characters, think again. Eric Kripke believes that the world of Godolkin University is not done yet, and there is a possibility that those stories will live on in unforeseen fashions.
It is not the happy ending that the fans were expecting, but it is not a dead end, either.
Eric Kripke Teases New Plans For ‘Gen V’ Characters

Kripke clarified that he did not wish for ‘Gen V’ to end. Actually, he strongly urged to continue the series, and a third season was already planned. It is what makes the cancellation hurt a bit more, as it was not about creative burnout or loss of direction. It was a matter of numbers.

“I did not cancel the show. One, I don’t have the power to do that. Two, I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there. We’re still hopeful we can find a way to do the season 3 concept we wanted,” he told EW.
Decisions made through streaming are not emotional. They’re calculated. When a show does not pay off in terms of viewership, it is hard to maintain, no matter how ardent the creative side is. That is what ‘Gen V’ got into.
“The cancellation is a bummer. But these things are based on business decisions that are above my pay grade, among Amazon. It’s based on amount of viewers versus how expensive the show is to make, and does it make business sense for them, ultimately? And, unfortunately, they decided that it didn’t,” he added.
However, the news that there was a complete roadmap in place makes this cancellation feel different. It is not a story that came to its own natural end, it is a tale which was cut off in the middle of its course.
‘The Boys’ Universe Still Has Plans for Young Characters

This is where the interesting part comes in. Kripke is not abandoning these characters, he is replacing them. Rather than proceeding with a committed series, aspects of ‘Gen V’ might be incorporated into future works in ‘The Boys’ universe.

That would involve some possible appearances by characters like Marie Moreau, whose story was just starting. Her fight to manage her powers, and what that would entail in a world full of Supes, is yet to be expanded.
New homes of these unfinished tales could be in future projects like ‘Vought Rising’ and the currently developing ‘The Boys: Mexico’. It is not comparable to getting a full season 3, but it does come with something worthwhile: continuity.
And that is what counts in a shared universe. One of the strengths of ‘The Boys’ franchise is its ability to weave characters and narratives across different shows. When managed well, the loose threads of ‘Gen V’ might even become more enriched through their engagement with the bigger world.
Still, it cannot be sugarcoated; losing the show is a disappointment. Evolution and interruption are different, and this is more on the latter. It’ll just be a detour. And sometimes, detours lead to better stories than the original path ever could.
