Erin Moriarty is once again in the spotlight, but it’s not because of ‘The Boys‘. This time, people are talking about her appearance and spreading rumors that she has had plastic surgery.
The actress has now decided to speak up and clear things once and for all. She has now directly responded to these claims.
Erin Moriarty Calls Out Surgery Rumors Regarding Her Appearance in ‘The Boys’

Moriarty has made her stance crystal clear; she has not undergone plastic surgery, and the rumors suggesting otherwise are completely untrue. She didn’t hold back while addressing the issue, labeling the claims as “disgustingly false” and describing the ongoing speculation as outright “harassment.”

For years, the actress has faced relentless online trolling, with critics comparing her earlier appearance in ‘The Boys’ to her more recent looks. Social media users circulated side-by-side photos, often pushing the narrative that she had become “obsessed” with cosmetic procedures.
The situation escalated further when public figures like Megyn Kelly discussed her appearance in a widely criticized segment, amplifying the conversation. Moriarty admitted that she felt “horrified” when she realized how widespread these claims had become.
She pointed out that the news was not only false but also harmful, calling it “counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic.” Despite being no stranger to criticism, she said the scale of this backlash crossed a line and forced her to address it publicly.
The Real Reason Behind Moriarty’s Changing Look

While people focused on rumors, Moriarty was dealing with a real health issue. She revealed that she has Graves disease, which is an autoimmune condition. This illness can affect the body in many ways, including weight loss and changes in appearance.

During filming of ‘The Boys‘ final season, her health worsened. She experienced extreme fatigue, nausea, and muscle weakness. At one point, she even thought she might be dying because she had missed the signs of the condition earlier.
She shared that she had “barely been able to eat and sleep,” which caused her to lose weight quickly. She became “10 pounds thinner,” and this also changed how her face looked. Her face grew slimmer, and her eyes appeared more prominent, leading people to assume she had surgery.
Moriarty also explained that one viral photo used as “proof” of surgery was actually taken when she had heavy contour makeup on. She remembered “feeling pretty” after the makeup was done, even though it was an “immensely stressful day.” She also pointed out that many of the “before” photos people used were almost ten years old, from when she was about 22 and not even of “legal drinking age.”
All of this had a strong impact on her mental health. Moriarty said the constant criticism made her feel overwhelmed. At one point, she even worried that these rumors could affect her career.
