“We’ll Be In Scenes And He’ll Literally Fall Asleep”: ‘The Boys’ Stars Chace Crawford And Antony Starr Reveal Nathan Mitchell Is Narcoleptic In Real Life

It is seldom that a character trait from an actor is incorporated into the character they are playing. However, it seems that The Boys’ star Nathan Mitchell has more in common with his character Black Noir. After Black Noir was disemboweled by Homelander, a new Black Noir 2 is now part of the show.

However, he has a serious problem of falling asleep anywhere and everywhere. But stars Antony Starr and Chace Crawford revealed in a recent interview that this characteristic has been adapted from Nathan Mitchell himself.

In the series ‘The Boys’, particularly in Season 4 Episode 7, we get to see Black Noir’s weakness. And that is falling asleep. Medically, Black Noir suffers from Narcolepsy. It is a condition that makes people very drowsy during the day, meaning they find it hard to stay away for long periods of time.

However, co-stars Antony Starr and Chace Crawford revealed something interesting in an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. They spilled the tea that Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell himself suffers from the disease.

Crawford said, “We’ll be in scenes and he’ll literally fall asleep.” Starr added, “He legit falls asleep.” He continued, “There’s a line [that goes], ‘Is Noir asleep?’ and he wakes up and goes ‘I’m narcoleptic’ which [Mitchell] f**king is in real life. He’s fallen asleep at the table in that suit.”

This is not just a set rumor or something the actors made up randomly. Nathan Mitchell himself confirmed this in an interview with TV Insider. The Black Noir actor talked about his disability to stay awake and how it has been a part of his life from a very young age.

Mitchell said, “It’s funny because [when I] talk to my friends who are now seeing the season, they’ll laugh with me and they’re like, ‘Yeah, I remember when we were in high school and you’d come to parties and just nap on the couch.’” He continued, “It’s something I’ve been doing my entire life just taking little naps here and there.” Mitchell went on, “The writers are so great. They see us and take unique parts of our personality and they insert them into the roles in really fun, creative ways. It’s a cool character trait that I’m glad we get to explore.”
