Everybody’s favorite legal drama, ‘Suits’ season six brought forth an unexpected story shift that left fans on the edge of their seats. Jessica Pearson, the legal powerhouse played by beautiful Gina Torres did not get quite the ending she deserved.
‘Suits’ first aired on June 23, 2011, on USA Network and since then the legal drama has been credited for inspiring many to become lawyers. The show had a great run of total nine seasons with the final airing on September 25, 2019. The critically acclaimed legal series has earned its spot as a cultural phenomenon.
Jessica’s Departure From Pearson Hardman
To discuss the departure of our beloved badass boss Jessica Pearson we need to start from the first blow at her position. The said blow came after she bravely stood up for Patrick J. Adams’ Mike Ross in the middle of season six which resulted in her being disbarred. With a victory in the death-row case of Leonard Bailey, no one expected her sudden departure from the story.
From the beginning of the series, Jessica has been seen protecting her position with every might given she’s the key component in the success of Pearson Hardman. Pearson undergoes intense character development throughout the six seasons of the show and by the end of it, her priorities shift. She moves to Chicago and rebuilds her career which can be seen in the 2019 spin-off of the original series called ‘Pearson’.

Gina Torres: Life Beyond ‘Suits’
Another reason for the managing partner to leave her well-made career was the actress Gina Torres’s real-life goals. The 54-year-old actress decided to step away from the screen for a while to join the world of philanthropy. Along with her co-star Meghan Markle’s husband Prince Harry, Gina founded a non-profit organization called ‘Archewell. In addition to contributing aid to the humanitarian crisis, Torres also decided to give more time to being a mother to her daughter Delilah Fishburne.
Since Gina’s contract had also come to an end and the constant commute between Toronto and Los Angeles was starting to get weary, she decided to move on. Despite the early conclusion of Jessica Pearson from the legalities of ‘Suits’, the character remains iconic. Gina Torres played her part to perfection for she’s still one of the most loved and admired characters of the show.
