‘Dexter’ is an American crime drama series, featuring Michael C. Hall as the main protagonist. The show originally came in 2006 and went on for eight seasons, until 2013. Years later, creators went for a sequel called ‘Dexter: New Blood’ that features the events ten years later. But what is ‘Young Dexter‘?
After the sequel that was released in 2021, it was a total hit. Following this, the show was in the news to be released for a season 2, by 2023. However, creators are now actually producing a prequel that would focus on the young Dexter, addressing it with the same name.

Who Will Be ‘In The New ‘Young Dexter’ Cast?
As ‘Dexter: New Blood’ season 2 has been discarded of its makings, Showtime has been up with the making of a prequel, called ‘Young Dexter.’ This prequel would be focusing on the younger him, and not on how the last season ended. Continuing with season 2 would have meant making Harrison a.k.a Jack Alcott the new protagonist.
However, this prequel would rewind to the earlier years of a younger Dexter, keeping the main protagonist of the show the same. As for this new spin-off, the cast hasn’t been released yet. But the original cast included Michael Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, and more. The 2021 renewal also included new cast members Julia Jones, Jack Alcott, etc.

‘Young Dexter’: Plot And Release Date
As the 2021 remake ends with Dexter’s son Harrison killing his father, a new season would have focused on Harrison solely and the beginnings of a “newly-minted killer” as called by Gamespot. However, the prequel would be focusing and continuing with the story of the main antihero.
As season 2 was gearing up with its makings, it was expected to release somewhere in 2023. However, as the New Blood season is canceled, ‘Young Dexter’ is in the makings. But there hasn’t been any official news of any release date yet.
