Although there are anomalies born, it is very unusual for someone to not wield any magic powers. Our protagonist Asta was the only person who didn’t have a shred of mana in his body.
Even the teachers and his friends were shocked by this fact. Asta thought he’ll eventually gain magic powers once his 15th birthday comes across. Unfortunately for him, it was once again confirmed that the world of mana rejects him. Shocked by this fact, he almost gave up on his dream of becoming the Wizard King when he encountered his own Five Leaf Grimoire.

Why Did Asta Lack Magic Powers?
Asta actually wasn’t born magicless, or he wasn’t a total orphan either. The whole story starts and ends with Asta’s mother Richita. His mother was born with plenty of mana but the type of magic she used was rare, almost like a curse. Richita had the power to absorb mana and life force from living beings.
To make matters worse, she had no control over her powers. The moment Asta was born, she unknowingly sucked all of Asta’s magic powers. Fearing she might suck his life force and kill her child, she leaves Asta at the doorstep of Hage’s orphanage. Any details about Asta’s father have not been revealed as of now.

How Powerful Is Asta’s Five-Leaf Grimoire?
Asta’s grimoire is the most powerful grimoire in the world of Black Clover as of now. He can not only use the powers of the devil hidden in his grimoire, but he can also use the tools of the Elfen kind, who turned into the legendary demon.
He himself being devoid of magic powers can unleash the full potential of his grimoire – using the anti-magic abilities of the demon Liebe. Moreover, he can cover his weapons in anti-magic and use tools of the former Elfen king Licht. He can use weapons like – Demon Dweller, Demon Slayer, and Demon Destroyer.
