Demon Slayer or Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen both belong to the family of shounen manga/anime. Jujutsu Kaisen has run over the typical shounen boundary with its story and plotline, while the former strictly follows the ‘rule of the books’. Both are based on protagonists who are underaged students tasked with saving their world from murderous and villainous characters and curses. While Demon Slayer uses the concept of ‘demons’ invading their society, Jujutsu Kaisen follows the concept of ‘curses’ who have no motive but to torture and disturb the lives of regular people.
Fans have been following both these animes regardless of who they support. If you are someone who is confused about which one to start with, there are a few things to keep in mind. In this article, we are going to discuss and compare the top 3 points from both animes, so you can easily have your choice.

Demon Slayer Vs Jujutsu Kaisen
Before jumping on to point comparisons, let’s take a look at what each of these animes has to offer. Demon Slayer follows the story of a young boy whose family gets killed by the antagonist Muzan Kibutsuji. Tanjiro Kamado (protagonist) along with his sister Nezuko (now turned demon), and two friends set out on a journey to end this cycle of evil ultimately by defeating Muzan.
On the other hand, Jujutsu Kaisen is a unique story where the protagonist Yuji Itadori gobbles up the finger of the most powerful villain Ryomen Sukuna in an emergency situation and gets overpowered due to its effect. He becomes the vassal for Sukuna and fights off ‘curses’, saving his society from further grief and agony.
3. Animation
The animation of Demon Slayer is way more awesome than Jujutsu Kaisen. Both have sword techniques in them, but the visuals set them far apart. The artwork of Demon Slayer is just fabulous. The fight scenes and color contrasts leave the fans wanting more. It leaves an aftertaste.
While in Jujutsu Kaisen the fight scenes are explicitly shown focusing on each punch, dodge, and kick effect which makes it crisp and visually gratifying. But the artwork is not as impressive as the former. It’s simple and avoids the complexity of colors.

2. Horror Elements
Jujutsu Kaisen has undoubtedly beaten Demon Slayer in this aspect. Though personally I like Demon Slayer, I can’t help but promote the other in this regard. Jujutsu Kaisen is far more mature than the anime. The storyline, plot, and villains, each scream out tension and complex stories.
The villains presented in Jujutsu Kaisen are creepy, freaky, and horrifying which will definitely come up in your nightmares. Of course, Demon Slayer has focused on making their villains scary but they have also provided each villain with their back story, making them less horrid.
1. Plotline
This is a tricky point. Demon Slayer focuses on Tanjiro’s struggle to make himself better and more powerful in order to save and turn his demonic sister into a human while setting on a mission to end Muzan who is the reason behind all evils.
The villains here have their own backstory which reflects societal norms making them relatable to the viewers. Compared to this, Jujutsu Kaisen starts off by throwing Yuji’s life on the line since the very first episode, making the viewers eager to see what’s next.
Here, even the side characters have their screen time. But unlike the former, the later villains don’t have any backstory or reason behind their doings. They are mindless and only focus on destroying society. Yuji along with his mentor and friends set out to bring an end to it all, knowing that he himself will have to die once it all comes to an end. This point keeps the viewer stick to the series to find out what happens in the end.
The Final Verdict
This brings us to another tie as no one can say that a particular series is better than the other. Both are equally competitive and visually interesting with excellent characters, fight scenes, and plotlines. It’s up to the viewer and their taste which can bring a conclusion to this controversy.
