Who Is Hiro Mashima?
Hiro Mashima is the creator of ‘Rave Master,’ ‘Edens Zero,’ and ‘Fairy Tail‘. He was born in 1977 and started illustrating Fairy Tail in 2006. He began his career in 1999 when he started illustrating ‘Rave Master‘. After ‘Rave Master‘ ended in 2005, he started writing ‘Fairy Tail‘. He worked on many other projects at the same time.
All of his creations have had great success, but ‘Fairy Tail’ is his most popular work. Mashima got the inspiration to write ‘Fairy Tail‘ from the real world. He based some of his character’s traits on real-life people he knows.
What Inspired Him To Write Fairy Tail?
Mashima finished ‘Rave Master‘ in 2005 and was saddened by its end. He wanted to create a story where everyone would have fun. His inspiration for writing ‘Fairy Tail‘ is his friends and him having fun together. Mashima has always been a fan of magic and wizards and wanted to incorporate that into the story. Mashima wondered how his life would be if his friends were magicians. Thus, ‘Fairy Tail‘ was created. He mentioned in an interview at comic-con that he based some of the characters on people around him.
For the characters, Natsu’s motion sickness was based on one of Mashima’s friends who got sick when riding in cars. His father’s early death inspired the father-son relationship between Natsu and Igneel. Mashima got inspiration from the real world. He observed the world around him, the relationships he had, and the ones he built while writing ‘Fairy Tail‘ and he put them in his writing to make the manga relatable and fun for the readers.
