As the award season continues, Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie‘ prepares for more wins, including the film’s cast, and Gerwig himself. Surprisingly, Ryan Gosling seems to be the top contender for the awards; nominated, even for an Oscar.
People are thrilled for Gosling to show up at the award show – and even better – maybe perform his viral ‘I’m Just Ken’ performance from the film. Here’s what Gosling is going to do at the Oscars.
Ryan Gosling’s Oscar Nomination
The Oscar nominations came out and Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera were the only ones nominated for their acting. Though this generated a lot of backlash against the Academy that for a film called ‘Barbie’, Barbie herself wasn’t nominated.
Speaking on this snub, Gosling said, “To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”.
“But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film. No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius,” the statement added.
Not just the Oscars, Gosling got nominated at almost every award show this year for his performance in the film. Moreover, his iconic 80s-powered ballad ‘I’m Just Ken’ seemed to be sweeping a lot of nominations too. This has led fans to wonder if he would be performing the song at the Oscars. Well, here’s what Gosling had to say about it.

Is Ryan Gosling Performing At The Oscars?
Sadly, the Academy hasn’t made any such proposals yet. Speaking to Variety about it, Gosling said that he hasn’t been asked yet, but he isn’t completely opposed to the idea and would definitely perform if he’s asked.
“I still have not been asked. It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it,” he said.
Ryan’s co-star Margot Robbie encouraged him and said that everyone has been asking him to perform the song. “Do it. Come on. It’ll be fun,” she added.
To which Gosling replied and said, “It can’t be pared down? Okay. It’s anthemic. So we’ll need a budget.”
