It’s often thought that celebrities who have had plastic surgery hide that fact at all costs. But stars such as Chrissy Teign and Courteney Cox have shown that not all Hollywood actresses and pop stars who go under the knife ultimately zip their mouths. In fact, they even love to celebrate it. They simply don’t want to perpetuate the stigma of shame that can come from getting such procedures done and they see no point in keeping them a secret.
While some celebrities have talked about getting nose jobs at a young age or breast enhancements or reductions that have helped with everything from confidence to pain relief, in other cases, the reason has been purely aesthetic — liposuction for better abs and the best beach body; injections for plumper lips; chin implants for a balanced look, and more. Whatever your stance on plastic surgery, to admit getting something done in showbiz is quite uncommon. Here is a look at the stars who weren’t afraid of full disclosure.
15. Britney Spears
Spears admitted in 2014 that she had lip fillers done and other “fun stuff.” The queen of pop has never shied away from opening up about her personal life then why not share about this as well?
14. Kim Kardashian
The Skims founder said in July 2022 that she hasn’t altered her face with many cosmetic procedures, despite what everyone else might think. “A little bit of Botox. But I’ve chilled, actually,” she told Allure. “I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today. I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips.”
‘The Kardashians‘ star previously admitted to getting butt injections, but she claimed they were for psoriasis treatment rather than her appearance. “I went to go get a cortisone shot in my butt,” she explained during a 2016 Instagram Live. “One of my neighbors was a dermatologist at Cedars. I go in there and he’s like, ‘There’s a one in a billion chance that you will get a huge indent in your butt.’ Of course, I get a huge indent on my butt.”
13. Kourtney Kardashian
In 2010, the eldest Kardashian told Nightline she “could care less” if people know she’s had breast implants. “It’s so funny ’cause it’s not a secret,” she said.
12. Lisa Kudrow
In 2013, ‘Friends‘ star Lisa Kudrow discussed the nose job she got at 16 in the Saturday Evening Post. She called it “life-altering,” and added, “I went from, in my mind, hideous to not hideous. I did it the summer before going to a new high school. So there were plenty of people who wouldn’t know how hideous I looked before. That was a good, good, good change.”
11. Wendy Williams
In 2009, Williams discussed her breast implants on an episode of her show. “Our son did not know I had breast implants,” she said. “So I sat down and went through plastic surgery with him. And it was great, because I was able to let him know that when his dad met me, I was completely natural. The beauty of my story is that ‘Your dad met me as a frog and I have transformed myself, because I wanted to, into a swan.’”
She further stressed, “I wanted the body that matched my personality. And the body I have now matches my personality.”
10. Iggy Azalea
Azalea isn’t afraid to talk about her breast augmentation. “I love them so much I had to talk about them.… I’d feel better not to have some secret. It’s much freer to say it and then you don’t have to worry someone will dig it up,” she told E! in 2015.
9. Kaley Cuoco
In 2016, the ‘Big Bang Theory; actress told Women’s Health that her breast augmentation was “the best thing I ever did.” She also talked about her nose job and a round of fillers. “As much as you want to love your inner self, I’m sorry, you also want to look good,” she said. “I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.”
8. Dolly Parton
Parton isn’t exactly known for her natural look, so it should come as no surprise that she’s a fan of enhancing what she’s got. She told the Guardian, “If something is bagging, sagging, or dragging, I’ll tuck it, suck it, or pluck it.” When she was asked whether her breasts were real on a CBS segment, she replied, “They’re real expensive. They’re real big.”
7. Ariel Winter
In 2015, Winter opened up to Glamour about her breast reduction after years of physical and emotional discomfort. “I got it for myself. I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right,” she said.
6. Kris Jenner
In 2011, Jenner famously underwent a face-lift on an episode of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians‘ before Kim’s second wedding. Many applauded that kind of transparency.
5. Cardi B
The rapper is willing to talk about anything and is pretty open about the work she’s done to enhance her look. In a video interview in 2017, she talked about her breast augmentation and illegal butt injections. In 2019 she was vocal about getting liposuction and going right back to performing. This led to her needing to cancel shows due to complications.
4. Cindy Crawford
“I’m not going to lie to myself, past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin, but in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox, and collagen,” the model told InStyle. “I have a very simple, healthy life, which works miracles. I drink a lot of water, watch what I eat, and exercise…but I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon.”
3. Kylie Jenner
Kylie is perhaps a part of one of the biggest culture-shifting discussions on injectables. In 2016, Jenner revealed on her app that she had gotten lip injections. “As of now, I only have lip fillers…But I’m also someone who says ‘never say never.’ If, down the line, I get to a point where I’m really uncomfortable with something on my body, I’m not against changing it,” she wrote.
2. Courteney Cox
Although most of the celebrities on this list have embraced plastic surgery, it’s important to acknowledge the journeys of those whose surgeries didn’t work out. In 2017, Courteney Cox revealed she had dissolved all her fillers. “I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself,” the ‘Friends’ star told New Beauty.
“I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do. Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend,” she added.
1. Chrissy Teigen
Teigen has never been shy about letting fans in on her glam routine – even the uncomfortable parts like rashes and altitude sickness. In 2019, she posted about getting Botox in her armpits, which helps to stop excessive sweating. “TRULY BEST MOVE I HAVE EVER MADE. I can wear silk again without soaking woohoo!” she wrote. Tiegen has also revealed she had another treatment done to her pits: liposuction. “It added two inches of length to my arms. [That fat] is coming back though, so I might need to go in and pay for it again.”
Now, in 2020, Teigen has been documenting the process of getting her breast implants removed. “They’ve been great to me for many years but I’m just over it,” she shared back in May. “I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! No biggie! So don’t worry about me! All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat. Which is all a tit is in the first place. A dumb, miraculous bag of fat.”
