The drama of ‘Riverdale’ couldn’t help but bleed into the real life. Turns out, the complex nature of relationships is not limited to the characters created in a writer’s room. Especially when it comes to the acting biz, the actors might wanna stay clear of it. But mistakes are made and lessons are learned, one such lesson was learned by Camila Mendes aka Veronica Lodge.
Camila walked into the shoes of Ronnie for about seven years and that is a long time, even for actors. The 29-year-old actress joined the show when she was just 23. The show didn’t just get Camila a job, fame and an expanded career but also some lifelong friends. The actress has been very vocal about her friendship with her fellow co-stars Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch. The three had been roommates throughout the years they worked on the show.

Camila Mendes On Working With Ex-Boyfriend
Discussing the complex collaboration of love and work, Camila candidly shared her experience of working alongside ex-boyfriend Charles Melton. The two met on the set of ‘Riverdale’ and fell in love just to break up again and fall back in love. Yes, the story is just as complicated as it sounds. Needless to say, it was an emotionally challenging task for Mendes.
While being on Dax Shepard’s podcast ‘Armchair Expert’ she talked about working with Charles after the breakup. “It’s the worst. But it’s hard because the timing of the show. Anytime we started to hook up off set and knew that something was brewing, our characters would start dating. But they didn’t know. No one knew. The writers would just naturally make it happen.”
As the fans are aware the show took a break between seasons 5 and 6 because of the pandemic. “When we came back we were both in other relationships. But then, naturally, the two of us got out of our own relationships — not knowing the other did. And we’re in lockdown we can’t leave Vancouver. And it’s, like, maybe second times a charm. Maybe this time it will be different,” said Mendes.

Ending Of ‘Riverdale’s Love Trails
As the seventh and the final season of the CW show wrapped Camila and Charles decided to part ways, both on and off-screen. The romance sprouting from the sets of the iconic show doesn’t have a good history of keeping up with real-life challenges as smoothly as they do on the screen. Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart’s failed relationship is a prime example of it.
And just like the ‘Bughead’ found their off-screen partners right after calling it quits with their on-screen ones, so did Camila. The actress takes the last season of the show as a closure of that chapter of her life and is now happy in love with actor and director Rudy Mancuso.
