The ongoing Israel-Palestine war continues to divide the world into two as thousands die in Palestine. While some celebrities have been brave enough to speak up against the suppressors despite the political tensions, they have seemingly had to face the repercussions of it. The most recent example of the same is Bella Hadid, who was removed as the face of the brand by Adidas because of her pro-Palestine stance.

In a similarly bold display of activism, Dave Matthews joined thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters outside the U.S. Capitol on July 24, to express his strong disapproval of Congress’s support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Dave Matthews Hold No Bar While Slamming Benjamin Netanyahu Amid Ongoing War
Musician Dave Matthews is not shying away from showing his support for the thousands of children, men, and women being killed in Palestine amid a bloody war. Going on since October 7, 2023, the war has seen many being killed by the Israeli forces that take orders from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Despite several calls for a ceasefire, Netanyahu has refused to stop the bombing of Palestine.
Matthews was one among the many who attended a massive protest in the U.S. Capitol, which coincided with Netanyahu’s speech to Congress that Matthews said he found particularly disturbing. Speaking to Al Jazeera about the same, the renowned musician didn’t hold back.
“I just think it’s terrible when the majority of the world is looking at this man and what he’s doing in Gaza and then also what he’s overseeing in the West Bank and East Jerusalem [and] we’re welcoming [him] into the so-called sacred halls of our government,” he said.
Visibly frustrated, he continued, “This has been an ongoing struggle for people that just want to have dignity and be able to live independent lives and dream of a better future. And this man is the pinnacle of the obstacle toward that freedom and that we have [him] visiting the country is obscene. It’s a disgusting show of support for someone that doesn’t deserve our support.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Promises “Total Victory” Against Hamas
Dave Matthews further continued bashing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the ongoing humanitarian crime that the highest authorities at the United Nations have called out. His final remarks were equally damning. “I’m ashamed that my tax dollars are going to the brutalizing of an entire people. It’s shameful. And I’m ashamed that our government is welcoming him here,” he said.
On the same day, Netanyahu’s address to Congress was also uncompromising. According to the Associated Press, he pledged “total victory” against Hamas, the deemed terrorist group that attacked Israel on October 7.
With his statement, he derided Americans opposed to the war in Gaza as “Iran’s useful idiots.” He also emphasized the unwavering alliance between the U.S. and Israel, declaring, “When we stand together something really simple happens: We win, they lose.”
The upcoming US Presidential elections are also expected to have some impact on the ongoing situation in Palestine.
