Nicole Shanahan has finally set the record straight about the rumors of her affair with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The estranged wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin has been quite the talk of the town since her divorce announcement. Media outlets came up with their own theories of how things might have gone downhill between the former couple. Nicole was even accused of having an affair with Musk behind her husband’s back. Nicole Shanahan Addresses Affair Rumors With Elon Musk
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Nicole’s attorney cleared things out. Bryan Freedman said, “Make no mistake, any suggestion that Nicole had an affair with Elon Musk is not only an outright lie but also defamatory.”
The Wall Street Journal had published a report claiming that Musk and Shanahan had an affair last December after meeting at Miami’s Art Basel. The claims caused an uproar. They have now been dismissed by Nicole and Musk as well. The report had claimed that the alleged affair had caused a rift between Brin and Musk. Further, it said that it prompted the Google co-founder to file for divorce in January, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Now, things seem to have been cleared from both sides. Especially Musk who had tweeted his side of the story a few days back. “Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic,” he wrote.
The entrepreneur went so far as to tell his Twitter followers that he hasn’t “had sex in ages.”
Nicole Seeks $1 Billion In Divorce Settlement
Brin finalized his divorce from his first wife and 23andMe founder Anne Wojcicki, in June 2015, after eight years of marriage. After the divorce, he met Shanahan at the Yoga retreat Wanderlust about seven years ago. It has been reported that now his ex-wife is seeking over $1 billion in divorce settlement though there’s a prenup agreement.
She also had an interview early this month with the news website Puck where she talked about the divorce filing and said, “I hope for Sergey and I to move forward with dignity, honesty and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working towards that.”
