Leonardo DiCaprio who played the titular role in ‘The Revenant‘ has taken several risks in order to perfect his performance. ‘The Aviator‘, ‘Shutter Island‘, ‘Inception‘, and ‘The Blue Diamond‘, the list of movies where the actor had to take risks were countless. And he had brushed with death more than a few times in his 30-year career.
“My friends have named me the person they least want to do extreme adventures with because I always seem to be very close to being part of a disaster. If a cat has nine lives, I think I’ve used a few.” DiCaprio joked to Wired. But it is not just a joke. The actor has encountered death both onscreen and offscreen. These extend from being attacked by a shark to a flight where the plane’s turbine exploded. Here are three situations where the celebrity cheated death.

Leonardo DiCaprio Cheats Death
The 47-years -old have had a pretty few experiences of first-hand encounters with death. ‘The Departed‘ lead also encountered death during a gusty tandem skydive, when the parachute got knotted up. “I didn’t even think about the extra chute, so I thought we were just plummeting to our death. [His partner] pulled the second, and that was knotted up too. He just kept shaking it and shaking it in midair, as all my friends were, you know, what felt like half a mile above me, and I’m plummeting toward earth.” DiCaprio describes the incident with a laugh. He brushed off the act though he could have broken his legs by the dysfunction.

When Death Came By Flight
The third time, the ‘Titanic‘ hero cheated death was when he was in business class on a Delta Airlines Flight to Russia. “It was right after ‘Sully’ Sullenberger landed in the Hudson. I was sitting there looking out at the wing, and the entire wing exploded in a fireball. I was the only one looking out at the moment this giant turbine exploded like a comet,” he recounted. “They shut all the engines off for a couple of minutes, so you’re just sitting there gliding with absolutely no sound, and nobody in the plane was saying anything.” The flight had an emergency landing at the JFK airport. With roles involving many risk factors, the actor is on a close call with death. With only two onscreen deaths, this is a lot to have in real life.
