Fans would be surprised to know how often celebrities are awestruck by other celebrities. While there have been many examples of celebrities being fans of other celebrities, Austin Butler recently revealed how he froze when he saw Ryan Gosling in person for the first time.
Austin Butler shared how starstruck he was by Gosling during an appearance on the ‘Today‘ show. Here’s what the actor said about ending up never introducing himself to the ‘La La Land‘ star out of nervousness.
Austin Butler Recalls Being Too Nervous To Introduce Himself To Ryan Gosling
During his recent appearance on the ‘Today‘ show, Austin Butler recounted how he once saw Ryan Gosling unexpectedly outside his hotel and was too nervous to introduce himself. “I couldn’t even say hello. Because I grew up admiring him so much,” Butler said.
When Savannah Guthrie reminded him that he is also a star, Butler humbly responded, “I know. But that doesn’t feel real.” However, this wasn’t the only instance of Butler being captivated by a celebrity.
During an episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ earlier that week, Butler described attending a star-studded party hosted by Paul McCartney. The guest list included Taylor Swift, Tom Hanks, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, and Ringo Starr.
Meeting Springsteen in particular left a lasting impression on Butler. “Those are those moments that you just, you can hardly fathom the amount of talent that’s surrounding you,” he said.

While talking further about celebrity meetings, show host Guthrie also mentioned that Cher attended the Los Angeles premiere of Butler’s new movie, ‘The Bikeriders‘. Butler said he was in awe of Cher too, calling him “another person that I’d never met. What a legend.”
Butler is seeing an exponential graph with his popularity as he navigates his way in Hollywood with films like Dune and others. Despite the success, he remains grateful for the popularity, and fairly grounded with what he has achieved.
Reflecting on his two-decade-long career, he said, “Most of that time you just try to pay the rent and pay for gas, so right now I just feel very grateful.” The actor is currently promoting his upcoming film ‘The Bikeriders‘, set to release on June 21.
