The upcoming comedy-drama ‘A Man Called Otto’ starring Tom Hanks is released on December 29th, 2022 for a limited release. It is about a man named Otto, a widower portrayed by Tom Hanks. Since his wife left him, he is engulfed in grief, but his disciplined demeanor keeps him busy to keep the neighborhood in discipline. Otto also ponders upon ending it all, but fate has optimism in store for him.
Marc Forster, the director of ‘World War Z’ will helm this comedy-drama. It stars Tom Hanks in the titular role of Otto. Tom Hanks has turned producer with wife Rita Wilson. Along with them , there is Gary Goetzman, and Fredrik Wikström Nicastro to accompany them for this SF Studios flick.

Is ‘A Man Called Otto’ Starring Tom Hanks Based On A Book?
‘A Man Called Otto’ is the cinematic adaptation of Fredrik Backman’s novel ‘A Man Called Ove’. Otto is a grumpy old widower who is stringent about rules and regulations and he expects the same from the folks in the neighborhood. Just when grief takes over his mind and pushes him to an extreme, a family arrives at the next door. One of the members, Marisol played by Mariana Treviño changes his perspective about life in this witty, life-affirming, and lively slice of life film.
The original book was released in 2012 and gained prominent fame upon its release. It was listed in the New York Times bestsellers list. The book sold seven million copies in its 77 weeks run. As per Variety, the film will have a limited release in December 2022, and a wider release in January 2023. The feature stars Tom Hanks in the lead.

Has The Book Been Already Adapted Into A Movie?
Due to its debut on Christmas Day, ‘A Man Called Otto‘ will arrive in theatres just days after the highly anticipated Whitney Houston biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody‘. Sony won a bid for the distribution of the film for $60 million during Berlin Film Festival’s European Film Market.
David Magee donned two hats. One as an executive producer, and he also wrote the adapted screenplay for the new film. Apart from the ‘Philadelphia’ actor, it also star Rachel Keller, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, and Mariana Treviño. ‘A Man Called Otto‘ marks an Americanized interpretation of the Swedish story, previously adapted in 2015 by Hannes Holm. Rolf Lassgård played Ove and the film received two nominations at the 2017 Academy Awards in the ‘Best Foreign Film’ and ‘Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling’ category.
