It has been almost two years since the Oscars slap gate, where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making fun of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. In 2022, Chris made fun of Jada’s alopecia condition by making a G.I. Jane joke. Due to this, Will went on stage and attacked him, and after settling down, the actor asked him to keep his wife’s name out of his “f***ing mouth.”
Since then, Will Smith has faced consequences for his actions, including a 10-year ban from attending the Oscar ceremony. Jada Pinkett Smith has been actively talking about how she felt about the slap and her husband taking a stance for her. Jada, time and again, has talked about her marriage to him in a bad light, but according to her, things changed after the Oscars slap.
Jada Pinkett Smith Credits The Oscar Slap For Saving Marriage With Will Smith
A lot has unfolded since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony. Will has been ousted from the ceremony; he has apologized to Chris Rock; the comedian took a dig at the relationship between Will and Jada; and Jada published her memoir titled ‘Worthy’.
It has been two months since Jada Pinkett Smith released ‘Worthy’, where she talked about the Oscars slap and its impact on the relationship between her and Will Smith. Now, during an interview with Daily Mail’s YOU magazine, Jada has called the Oscars slap as holy as it changed her relationship with her husband.
Jada Pinkett Smith said, “I nearly didn’t even attend the Oscars that year, but I’m glad I did. I call it the ‘holy slap’ now because so many positive things came after it.” The actress admitted that the slap helped her understand that she would never leave Will’s side.
Jada added, “That moment of the s**t hitting the fan is when you see where you really are. After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him.” She continued, “Who knows where our relationship would be it that hadn’t happened?”

The Actress Thought That The Oscars Slap Was Staged
During an interview with People for her memoir ‘Worthy’, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she thought that the Oscar slap was staged. The actress initially could not believe that Will slapped Chris Rock like many people on live TV. She said, “I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him.’ It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.”
The first thing that Jada Pinkett asked Will Smity after the awards ceremony was if he was okay. She continued, “I’m going to be by his side, by also allow him to have to figure this out for himself.”
